Bankart lesion is a tear of the anteroinferior glenoid labrum, most commonly causing recurrent shoulder dislocations. Surgical treatment aims to anatomically reattach the labrum and restore joint stability.

Types of Implants

  1. Titanium-Based Anchors

    • High mechanical strength.

    • Preferred in young, high-demand patients.

  2. PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) Anchors

    • Biocompatible and radiolucent (does not interfere with MRI/CT).

    • Useful in patients requiring postoperative imaging.

  3. Titanium + PEEK Hybrid Anchors (Knotless Systems)

    • Titanium tip facilitates bone entry, PEEK body ensures fixation.

    • Knotless design reduces surgical time.

  4. Knotless Systems

    • Widely used in modern arthroscopy.

    • Available in both PEEK+PEEK and PEEK+Titanium versions.

Clinical Decision-Making

  • Young patients with high bone quality: Titanium or PEEK+Titanium

  • Patients requiring imaging follow-up: PEEK or PEEK+PEEK

  • When speed and minimally invasive approach are prioritized: Knotless systems
